Active School Week

The Active School Week took place from 7th - 10th May 2019. As usual regardless of age or fitness level everyone (including the teachers) had the opportunity to participate. The various activities were enjoyed by all, although some of us had more aches and pains at the end of the week than others. Read on to discover the activities we did and view some photographs.

Active Week got off to a great start with a visit from the Monaghan Sports Partnership. We have signed up to participate in 'The Active Homework Challenge'. Paul visited the school and demonstrated all the exercises that the children will be doing for homework over the next few weeks. By the end of this we will all be as fit as fiddles. We encourage the families at home and the teachers in school to get active and join in as well.

'The Pound Class' I think was a favourite with us all. We had a fantastic time and were so busy with our ripsticks we didn't even notice we were working out.

Mrs Marshall and her class kindly organised Tug of War Tournaments for every class. Tug of War uses a different set of skills from many other active sports and we had a great time using our full strength to pull the rope.

Other activities included a Walk around our local locality and an aerobic session facilitated by Coral Leisure.
