Welcome to Model School Monaghan

Personal Fulfillment, Collective Responsibility

First Class read the story 'Granny's Quilt' in History.

In this book, Granny used patches from her favourite outfits, each with its own story, to make a beautiful quilt. The boys and girls thought about which patch of their clothing they would use to make their own quilt and shared their story with the class.

We then looked at the work of Faith Ringgold, who used patches of material to create story quilts. The class were very eager to get started on their own story quilts. They used a happy memory as inspiration, or simply drew a picture, and decorated the border of their pictures with different patched of materials.

The finished products look fantastic!!
