Mrs Berry here.... I thought I’d send you all a short update on Peace in Uganda..
Uganda is in a similar situation to Ireland in that schools have closed & people are being told they have to stay indoors. If people need things collected they can ask a Boda driver to do the delivery, a boda is a motorbike that are used all over Uganda. Fortunately there have been very few cases, less than 50 I read today & no deaths. Also most, if not all have been in the capital, Kampala. Kampala is about 200 km away from Busia, where Peace lives. It’s possible to see the journey on Google maps. 200 km is about the same distance as Wexford is from Monaghan.
Life, in real terms, has probably changed little for Peace, other than she can’t go to school. She may have more household chores like collecting water or cleaning & she has more time to play. World Vision also are supporting the community. You can read more of what they are doing on www.worldvision.ie
Hopefully I’ll be able to visit all the classrooms, collecting money for Peace soon!
Stay Safe,
Mrs Berry
