STEM - Apple Rafts
Children were asked to imagine they were trapped on a desert island with nothing only apples and toothpicks to create a raft for them to escape on.
They struggled with connecting the apples and toothpicks together so that they would create a buoyant structure that was both well balanced and floated well in water. Once they saw the example teacher had on the board they were able to get a clearer idea of how their raft should and could work.
