The children really enjoyed learning about the concept of area as the entire surface of an object.

As they are only beginning to understand the concept they used objects such as copies, books, cubes and even lollipop sticks to measure the area of certain things in the classroom. Hopefully they will remember the concept of area forever more after having so much fun measuring with everyday items.
